Jasper Townsite, situated in the center of Jasper National Park in the Canadian Rockies, Alberta. Jasper is named after Jasper Hawse, the manager of a fur trading post in the area in the early 1800's, called Jasper House.

Jasper National Park is the largest of the Canadian Rockies National Parks. Established in 1907, the Park covers 10,878 sq. km (4,199 sq. miles).

Built in 1914, the Jasper Information Centre was the first major building in the Jasper Townsite. It was originally the Park's administration offices, museum and superintendents home.

Only 366 km from Edmonton Jasper is a popular tourism destination in both Summer and Winter.

Popular Summer activities in the Jasper area include hiking, fishing, mountain biking, white water rafting and camping.

Popular Winter activities include skiing, both downhill and cross country, snowshoeing and Heli skiing.

For those looking for a less strenuous activity, Wildlife watching, train tours, and even boat tours on the World famous Maligne Lake are always popular.
